The rural healthcare initiatives by Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan at Saveetha Institutions, including the College of Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Medical College, have resulted in measurable and meaningful improvements in community health and well-being. Over 8,770 rural individuals were reached through multi-disciplinary awareness programs addressing ageing, breast cancer, heart disease, renal disorders, and women’s health. 5047 community members from Kuthambakkam benefitted from culturally sensitive nursing-led health education and disease prevention. He is also actively involved in uplifting the health and well-being of rural communities across Kuthambakkam, Kondenchery, Molachur, Madhuramangalam, Nemili, Ulundai, Maapedu, Keelachery, Mappedu, Mevalurkuppam, Erayamangalam, Chembarambakkam, Sathrai, and Kilacheri through sustained, impactful outreach. Under the leadership of Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan, our institutions have pioneered industrial and occupational health outreach across Tamil Nadu, delivering timely care, preventive screenings, and ergonomic interventions directly to the workforce. Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan has spearheaded numerous healthcare initiatives that have significantly improved the well-being of women, children, and the geriatric population, ensuring equitable access to quality care in both urban and rural communities. Under his leadership, extensive school health programs have reached over 70,000 children with preventive oral health treatments, immunization drives, deworming campaigns, nutrition awareness sessions, and physical activity promotion, alongside tailored interventions for differently abled children, including Braille-based health education for the visually impaired. Women’s health has been advanced through menstrual hygiene and wellness programs, reproductive health counseling, nutritional guidance, and skill development initiatives empowering rural women toward economic independence. For the elderly, over 2000 senior citizens have benefitted from comprehensive geriatric screening camps, physiotherapy, arthritis and osteoporosis management, dental and vision care, medication counseling, and assistive device distribution in old age homes, greatly enhancing functional independence and quality of life. These efforts reflect Dr. Veeraiyan’s holistic approach to preventive, promotive, and rehabilitative healthcare, fostering long-term well-being, empowerment, and dignity for vulnerable groups. Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan has made remarkable contributions to the healthcare and overall well-being of differently abled individuals through a series of sustained, impactful initiatives. Over a span of three years from 2023 to 2025, 32 comprehensive oral health screening and awareness camps were conducted, benefitting 2,017 differently abled people with diverse disabilities. These programs included onsite treatments such as scaling, restorations, and preventive procedures, with specialized health education for visually impaired school children delivered through Braille, ensuring inclusivity in healthcare communication. His leadership also facilitated collaborations with the Ottobock Orthotic and Prosthetic Centre, where physiotherapy students actively participated in the fabrication and delivery of customized orthotic prostheses. Outreach to institutions such as Udhavum Karangal in Thiruverkadu provided much-needed mobility aids like tripod walking sticks, paired with one-on-one counseling sessions. Beyond direct healthcare, Dr. Veeraiyan’s vision extended to livelihood empowerment, with Entrepreneurship Development Programs offering rural villagers hands-on training in candle making and marketing to promote economic independence. Awareness programs at Premavasam emphasized inclusive education for differently abled children, while active participation in events like the national-level open swimming competition for differently abled persons reflected his commitment to social integration, empowerment, and the promotion of physical activity among this community. Through these initiatives, he has created a holistic support system that addresses medical, rehabilitative, educational, and social needs of the differently abled population.

Contributions to the Public and Government Against COVID-19 Battle
Under the visionary leadership of Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan, SIMATS mounted one of the most comprehensive COVID-19 responses in the country, combining clinical excellence, community outreach, and financial support. Saveetha Hospital managed one of the highest COVID-19 patient loads among private hospitals in India, successfully treating over 6,500 patients, with 500 dedicated COVID beds (including 250 oxygen beds, 50 ICU beds, and 80 HDU beds) running at near full capacity during the second wave. More than 900 critically ill patients received advanced ICU care supported by ECMO, 35 high-end ventilators, and specialized respiratory and dialysis equipment, with care delivered by 15 multidisciplinary teams and 24x7 nursing and physiotherapy support. The NABH-accredited molecular biology lab conducted over 30,000 COVID tests, while the vaccination drive administered 9,500+ doses, achieving 99.5% coverage among healthcare workers. A robust home care program supported 2,700 patients remotely, easing hospital burden. Simultaneously, Saveetha Dental College continued emergency maxillofacial and oncology surgeries, managing 191 trauma cases, 73 mucormycosis cases, and 59 oral cancer surgeries free of cost—valued at over ₹4.8 crore in patient care—along with advanced rehabilitation using in-house 3D-printed implants. Combined with a ₹1 crore contribution to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s COVID-19 Care Fund, free dental screening camps, and thousands of COVID Care Kits, these efforts removed financial barriers, saved lives, and set a benchmark in compassionate, inclusive pandemic care.
